Hello
My name is Daylin and I like cats and acupuncture. My mission is to create a healing space where all bodies feel safe and welcome just as they are. Informed by my own personal experiences, I have a special interest in treating gastrointestinal disorders, autoimmune conditions, and the more challenging emotional-spiritual states of being human. I very much look forward to working with you. ♥️
Warmly,
Daylin Shelley, DAHM, AP, Dipl. OM
About
Daylin is a South Florida native who loves to cook (and eat) real food, nerd out about acupuncture, and occasionally paint and knit. She is a graduate of Bastyr University in Seattle, WA, with a bachelor of science in nutrition and culinary arts (2014), a master of oriental medicine from the Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, FL (2024), and a doctorate in acupuncture and herbal medicine from Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in Asheville, NC (2025). She believes that food is medicine and that dis-ease is rooted in spirit, just as the ancient healers of the East and West have stated long long ago...
"All diseases are rooted in spirit." Ling Shu (Spiritual Pivot), chapter 8, between the 2nd & 1st centuries BCE
"All disease begins in the gut." Hippocrates, 460-370 BCE
Daylin has had her own challenging personal health story - which includes a Crohn's disease diagnosis - which she has come to view as a loving guide who shows her when she is living out of balance, telling her when body needs to rest. She is also a certified Sivananda yoga and yoga nidra meditation instructor.
Having spent 23 years in the restaurant industry, Daylin has a deep desire to offer support and healing to the servers, bartenders, chefs, line cooks, bar-backs, managers, hosts, bussers, kitchen staff, and all of those who serve in the industry by offering an In the Biz discount to encourage them to take care of their bodies and minds.
Daylin also believes in the power of community and the social importance of making medicine accessible to everyone. While the typical western "boutique" style of acupuncture is the mainstream, her real dream is to have a full-time community acupuncture clinic serving the 90% of Americans who cannot afford the standard $100 treatments. Acupuncture has the power to change lives and should be available to everyone, especially as the conventional medical system becomes more and more challenging to navigate. (For more on the topic of acupuncture as a form of social justice and the community acupuncture movement, please read "Acupuncture is Like Noodles", by Lisa Rohleder et. al.)
